We provide psychological evaluation for the following:
Third-Party Assessment:

Learning Disability Assessment
At Liberty Square Psychology Clinic we believe that each individual has their own unique learning profile. As such, our assessments aim to provide an in depth understanding of an individual’s specific areas of strength and weakness in accordance with their present level of functioning. In addition, our role is to make recommendations designed to help clients develop the strategies and skills necessary to meet their unique learning needs and reach their learning potential. As with all of our assessments, a report outlining the findings is provided, in addition to consultation with a family doctor, a psychiatrist for treatment planning, and/or with an accessibility consultant for the purpose of implementing academic accommodations.
Our approach to performing comprehensive psychological assessments for the evaluation of a learning disability consists of reviewing relevant documents (i.e., report cards, previous assessment reports, etc.), conducting a thorough clinical interview, obtaining collateral information from parents, teachers, therapists, physicians or significant others, and administering standardized psychological assessment measures that evaluate cognitive abilities, and basic academic skills in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, communication, along with social and emotional functioning.
Specifically, at Liberty Square Psychology Clinic, we specialize in providing learning disability evaluations to individuals entering post-secondary education who require an assessment in order to access academic accommodation services at their respective college or university. Our strong working relationship with various accessibility and counselling centres throughout the Greater Toronto Area allows for ease and efficiency in communicating the needs of our clients, in addition to arranging for support services.
ADHD/ADD Assessment
We offer comprehensive evaluation of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents and adults. Our assessment approach focuses on identifying individual strengths and needs in relation to the presenting concerns. We support the individual by recommending strategies to cope with attention challenges that affect daily functioning. Based on the assessment findings, we are able to provide suggestions for accommodations in the school, work, and home environment.
The evaluation of ADHD includes a clinical interview to gather a better understanding of an individuals reported symptoms. We look to determine if the reported difficulties are related specifically to ADHD, a potential underlying learning disorder, or mood related condition. We also evaluate for the presence of a comorbid disorder (i.e. more than one disorder). We obtain collateral information from parents, family members and teachers to support our understanding of the individual. Typically, this is in the form of an interview and/or through the completion of informant questionnaires.
With regards to the performance based evaluation of attention concerns, we provide a comprehensive assessment of cognitive, attention, memory and executive functioning. If necessary, we may incorporate an assessment of academic skills to evaluate for possible learning difficulties. Through these steps, we are able to confidently evaluate the presentation of ADHD, and deliver concrete, evidence-based recommendations to support the future success of our clients.
Intellectual Disability
Intellectual Disability assessments consist of a thorough clinical interview with the client and parent or legal guardians, followed by an evaluation of cognitive functioning and achievement skills as well as social, emotional and adaptive functioning.
Diagnostic Mental Health Assessments
In order to provide effective psychological treatments, we provide a comprehensive diagnostic mental health assessment. Our diagnostic assessment evaluates an individual’s social and emotional functioning and mental health concerns by obtaining relevant psychological and social information through a clinical interview, administration of psychometric tests investigating the current level of functioning, as well as the provision of feedback in relation to assessment findings and discussion of treatment options.
Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA)
After a motor vehicle accident, many individuals experience a significant increase in stressors. These stressors include accident-related pain, job loss, financial difficulties, insurer concerns, and limitations on one’s ability to carry out their regular activities such as household chores, parenting tasks, or social and recreational interests. Individuals may experience low mood, anxiety and worry, irritability, fears of driving or of being a passenger in a motor vehicle, marital conflict, or problems with memory and concentration. At Liberty Square Psychology Clinic, we provide comprehensive assessments to investigate the existence, nature, and degree of psychological dysfunction that may have resulted directly or indirectly from an individual’s car accident. We also provide evidence-based treatments to assist clients in returning to their pre-accident level of functioning. The assessment process includes a clinical interview and the administration of psychological tests, followed by a feedback session about the assessment results and recommendations for treatment. The treatment recommendations are designed to help develop strategies to overcome and/or cope with the symptoms that are associated with the Motor Vehicle Accident or work-related incident.
If you have been in a motor vehicle accident or are involved in a work related accident and feel overwhelmed, you may benefit from a psychological assessment and treatment. You do not need a physician or insurer referral to access these services. However, many people discuss this with their family doctor or legal representative. Our clinic is registered with Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) for the provision of psychological assessments and treatment of psychological stressors following a motor vehicle accident.
Third-Party Assessments
A psychological assessment for a third party seeks to identify the specific mental health concerns and symptoms that occur following an accident, traumatic injury, or the onset of a physical illness or disability. This includes psychological assessments for disability benefits, such as Long-Term Disability, Insurer’s Examinations, Medical Legal Assessments and Workplace Injury Assessments (WSIB).
